Description

This is quite a special kayak. It is made with carbon and an enhanced epoxy resin and weighs in at under 19kg. And it’s tough. We have had this kayak in the demo fleet for a couple of years, and it’s amazed everyone who has paddled it (it even just lifted it!).

Designed by Jesper Kromann-Andersen, the Embla will handle a range of sea conditions. The hull features a hard chine for predictable edging, allowing the paddler optimal control over the kayak. It’s responsive and agile. Experienced paddlers will appreciate the way the kayak handles in rough water. And the handling is not from the hull design alone. The deck has been shaped to minimise the effect of the wind. And a really nice feature is the low back deck, which makes rolling easier.

The kayak is a work of art. The carbon finish is exposed on parts of the deck, allowing the weave of the carbon cloth to be seen. The hull is painted white, as are sections of the deck. The exposed carbon is finished with a clear coat, protecting it from UV exposure. The Embla is built using graphene enhanced epoxy. This makes the kayak tough and light.

The Embla has been in the demo fleet for a couple of years, but it’s extremely tidy. There is no damage and very minimal scratching. To buy the kayak new would cost you over $7,000.

Enhanced Epoxy Construction

This kayak is made using a graphene enhanced epoxy resin. Graphene is incorporated into the epoxy resin matrix, significantly enhancing the resin’s mechanical and thermal properties. This allows Norse to build a light kayak, that is stronger than their other construction options.
