Description
Q-Kayaks have designed and manufactured a large number of kayaks over the years. If you have one of their kayaks (or one made by Mission Kayaking – Skua, Shearwater, Swift or Penguin) and the rudder needs some TLC, then relax, it can probably be fixed up. We have the following parts available
- Rudder Block – Short Pin. This is what was used on the older style of rudder. See below if you are unsure if you have the new or older style of rudder.
- Rudder Block – Long Pin. This is used on the newer (current) style of rudder.
- Rudder Sleeve. The older style of rudder sat in a sleeve which is molded into the kayak. Replacing the rudder sleeve is not an easy task, but it can be done if it’s the only option.
- Rudder Stopper. This is the part that is fitted to the kayak forward of the rudder and it holds the rudder body in place. Please note: The picture shows the Rudder Stopper with a bolt fitted. The bolt is not included with the Rudder Stopper.
New Style or Old Style of Rudder
Q-Kayaks fitted their sea kayaks with this rudder initially (older style of rudder) and it used a short pin.
This is the newer style of rudder and it’s used on the kayaks that are made by Mission too (Skua, Shearwater, Penguin and Swift). It uses a longer pin.

And, if we cannot do this, we will offer you a credit towards a future purchase. Please be aware that any additional courier costs associated with exchanges are the responsibility of the customer.

- Items that are on sale, or at clearance pricing are not eligible for exchange. Please choose carefully when purchasing. If you have any questions regarding the sizing of a product, please contact us.
- As Kayak HQ is closing down, we are limited to the sizes we have left in stock, and are not ordering in new products. Exchanges are limited to what is in stock.
