Converting a paddle into a two piece, backup paddle is not a difficult job. All you need is a fibreglass spigot (joining tube) and a snap button. Kajak Sport’s Snap Button uses a diamond shaped spring, resulting in a smoother action. It might seem like a small difference, but you’ll appreciate it when you are are trying to assemble your paddle with cold fingers. This same system can be used to make a paddle into a four-piece pack raft paddle.

These are available in two different button sizes, to suit different sizes of paddle shaft.
